What is Stumpdle Second Innings?

Second Innings is Stumpdle's archive mode. It lets you replay past IPL Wordle puzzles by selecting an earlier date and opening that day's mystery player. The puzzle keeps the familiar seven-guess format, the same player attributes and the same color feedback as the daily game.

The feature is useful because daily puzzles do not always fit daily schedules. You may miss a date, discover Stumpdle after several puzzles have already passed or simply want another round after completing today's player. Second Innings makes those older games available without pretending they are part of the current daily challenge.

How to choose and play an earlier puzzle

Open the Second Innings page and browse the available dates. Each entry identifies the day you are about to play, so you can choose a missed puzzle or continue through the archive in order. Select a date and the board opens in archive mode. Then enter IPL players exactly as you would in the daily game and use the returned clues to find that date's answer.

Your progress for an archive date is stored separately from the current puzzle. If you leave midway through a round and return on the same device, Stumpdle can keep that archived game distinct from other dates. This separation makes it practical to explore older puzzles without confusing them with today's board.

Why archive games do not change daily stats

A daily streak is meaningful because everyone gets one current puzzle and one chance to record that day's result. Allowing archive rounds to alter daily statistics would blur that record. Stumpdle therefore keeps Second Innings results away from the daily streak and stats.

That boundary also makes archive play relaxed. You can test a new opener, spend longer studying the clues or revisit a difficult board without worrying about the number attached to your daily run. The original puzzle remains intact, while your main record continues to reflect the current-day game.
